Cool Facts
Clawed Hunter. Fukuiraptor was a megaraptoran theropod, which means it was a meat-eating dinosaur with oversized slashing claws on its feet. These deadly claws would have made it a powerful hunter of other dinosaurs.
Ancient Japan. This dinosaur lived in what is now Japan during the Early Cretaceous epoch, around 120 to 130 million years ago. Fossils of Fukuiraptor were found in rocks from the Kitadani Formation.
Medium Sized. Fukuiraptor was considered medium-sized for a theropod dinosaur, making it smaller than the giant long-necked sauropods but still a formidable predator in its ecosystem.
Rare Discovery. Scientists believe Fukuiraptor may have been one of the earliest members of the megaraptoran family, or possibly a close relative of Australovenator, a meat-eater from Australia. Finding dinosaurs like this helps us understand how predators evolved.
