Speed and Machines. Futurist artists were obsessed with cars, airplanes, and trains because they represented the exciting future. They painted these machines in wild, energetic ways to capture the feeling of movement and power.

Radical New Art Style. Instead of painting calm, realistic scenes, Futurists created explosive paintings and sculptures filled with swirling lines and bright colors. They wanted art to make you feel the energy and chaos of modern cities.

Started in Italy. The movement began in Italy around 1909, created by a group of young Italian artists who wanted their country to break free from old traditions and look toward the future instead.

Bold Manifestos. Futurist artists wrote dramatic declarations called manifestos explaining their wild ideas. The most famous one was Marinetti's 1909 Manifesto of Futurism, which announced their revolutionary vision to the world.

Art Beyond Paintings. Futurists didn't just paint, they also created sculptures, music, and performances that celebrated dynamism. Luigi Russolo even invented new musical instruments to create sounds that matched modern industrial life.
