Cuba's beating heart. Havana is the capital and largest city of Cuba, sitting right on the coast and serving as the country's main port where ships come and go with goods from all over the world.
Caribbean giant. It's the most populous city and second-largest metropolitan area in the whole Caribbean region, with millions of people living in and around it.
Massive sprawling city. The city covers about 728 square kilometers, which is huge, and when you count the whole metro area it stretches even bigger to over 8,400 square kilometers.
A changing population. In 2021, about 2.1 million people lived in Havana, but by the end of 2024 that number had dropped to around 1.75 million people.
