Prolific storyteller. L. Frank Baum wrote 14 Oz books, 41 other novels, 83 short stories, over 200 poems, and at least 42 scripts. He basically never stopped creating new stories for readers to enjoy.

Created Oz. Baum invented the magical Land of Oz, a place where Dorothy and her friends had incredible adventures. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz became his most famous work and one of the most beloved children's books ever written.

Movie pioneer. Baum worked hard to bring his stories to film and stage. In 1939, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was made into a movie that became one of the most important films of the 20th century and is still watched today.

Stage and screen dreamer. Before movies became popular, Baum wrote scripts and tried to adapt his tales for theater productions. He believed his imaginative stories could come alive through performance, not just on the page.
