Many kinds of musicians. Some musicians write songs, some conduct orchestras, and some perform for audiences. Musicians can be singers using their voice or instrumentalists playing guitars, pianos, drums, and lots of other instruments.

Solo or together. Musicians can perform alone on stage, or they can work together in bands, orchestras, or other groups to create music.

Different jobs, same passion. Songwriters create new music and lyrics, conductors direct the musicians and control the tempo, and performers practice and play the music for audiences to enjoy.

Music as a career. According to the U.S. Employment Service, musicians are people who follow music as a profession, meaning it's their job and how they make a living.
