Created by Alfred Nobel. Alfred Nobel was a Swedish inventor who left money in his will in 1895 to create five prizes. He wanted to honor people doing amazing work in physics, chemistry, medicine, literature, and peace.
Started in 1901. The first Nobel Prizes were handed out in 1901, just six years after Alfred Nobel died. The physics prize has been given out almost every single year since then.
