First Emperor of China. Qin Shi Huang united all the separate kingdoms of China into one country around 2,200 years ago. Before him, China was divided into many smaller regions that often fought each other.

Invented the Title Emperor. He created the new title 'huángdì' (emperor) instead of just calling himself a king like rulers before him. This fancy new title was so impressive that rulers in China and nearby countries copied it for the next 2,000 years.

Built the Great Wall. Qin Shi Huang ordered the construction of walls and fortifications to protect his empire from invaders from the north. These walls later became the famous Great Wall of China that still stands today.

Terracotta Army Secret. When he died, thousands of life-sized clay soldiers were buried with him in his tomb to protect him in the afterlife. Archaeologists discovered this amazing underground army centuries later, and it remains one of the world's most incredible discoveries.

Harsh but Effective Ruler. Qin Shi Huang used tough laws and strong military power to keep his huge empire under control. While he could be cruel, he also brought order, built roads and canals, and made one written language for all of China.
