Riojasaurus

Long-necked herbivore. Riojasaurus was a sauropodomorph, a group of dinosaurs known for their long necks and big bodies that ate plants all day long.

Named after Argentina. This dinosaur was named after La Rioja Province in Argentina, where its fossils were discovered in rocks called the Los Colorados Formation.

School bus sized. Riojasaurus grew to about 6.6 metres, or 22 feet long, making it a medium-sized dinosaur that walked on all four powerful legs.

Ancient Triassic times. This dinosaur lived during the Late Triassic period, which was before the famous dinosaurs like Triceratops and T. rex even existed.

Unique to South America. Riojasaurus is the only known riojasaurid dinosaur ever found in South America, making it special to that continent's prehistoric past.
