Named after a businessman. The trophy was donated by Samuel Ryder, an English businessman who loved golf so much that he wanted to create a special competition between the best players from Europe and America.

Europe and USA trade places. The competition happens every two years, and the location switches between Europe and the United States so both sides get a fair chance to play at home.

Teams of top golfers. Only the very best professional golfers from each continent get to play, making it one of the most exciting golf events in the world.

Different than regular golf. Instead of playing for yourself like most golf tournaments, Ryder Cup players represent their entire continent and compete as a team.
