Spinning gear magic. A Spirograph uses a small gear that rolls inside or around a bigger gear, and a pen traces the path it makes. When the gears spin, you get beautiful, perfectly symmetrical patterns that look like they took hours to draw.
Hidden math shapes. The patterns you create are called hypotrochoids and epitrochoids, which are fancy math words for curves that form when circles move around circles. Even though you're just following the holes with a pen, you're actually drawing real mathematical shapes.
Invented by an engineer. A British engineer named Denys Fisher invented the toy Spirograph and first sold it in 1965. It became so popular that kids have been drawing with it ever since.
Endless pattern combinations. You can use different gears and pen holes to create millions of unique patterns, and no two drawings are ever exactly the same. Each color and gear combination opens up a new world of designs.
Circles within circles. The tool works because of the way one gear rolls around another, creating a hypnotic dance of rotation that your pen captures perfectly on paper every single time.
