Longest Ottoman reign. Suleiman ruled from 1520 to 1566, longer than any Ottoman sultan before him. His 46 years in power gave him time to build one of the strongest empires in the world.

Economic and military peak. Under Suleiman, the Ottoman Empire reached its greatest power in money, military strength, and politics. He made the empire so strong that other European countries had to respect Ottoman power.

Millions of subjects. When Suleiman ruled, at least 25 million people lived under Ottoman control. That's more people than lived in most European countries at the time.

Vast territory. Suleiman's empire stretched across three continents, including parts of Europe, Asia, and Africa. His rule created one of the largest and most impressive empires in history.
