Desert Herders. The Tuareg are traditionally nomadic pastoralists, which means they move from place to place with their livestock like camels, goats, and sheep, following water and grass across the Sahara.

Spread Across Sahara. About 4 to 5 million Tuareg live across a huge area stretching from southwestern Libya all the way to Nigeria, with communities also in Mali, Algeria, Niger, Burkina Faso, Chad, and Sudan.

Berber Heritage. The Tuareg are part of the Berber ethnic group, an ancient North African people with their own distinct language, traditions, and way of life that has survived for thousands of years.

Sahara Survival. Living in one of the world's harshest deserts, the Tuareg have developed incredible knowledge about finding water, navigating without roads, and thriving where few others can.
