Home to Carthage. Tunisia has the amazing archaeological sites of Carthage, an ancient city dating back to the 9th century BC. Thousands of years ago, Carthage was one of the most powerful cities in the Mediterranean before Rome defeated it.

Desert meets coast. Tunisia is where the Sahara Desert in the south meets beautiful Mediterranean beaches in the north. The country also has the Atlas Mountains on its western side, creating a landscape full of different environments.

Ancient mosques. The Great Mosque of Kairouan is one of Tunisia's most famous landmarks and showcases amazing Islamic architecture. Visitors can explore stunning mosques and historical sites throughout the country.

1,300 km of coastline. Tunisia has one of the longest coastlines in North Africa, stretching along the Mediterranean Sea. The country is even home to Africa's northernmost point, called Cape Angela.

Bustling souks. Tunisia's markets, called souks, are colorful and lively places where people buy and sell everything from spices to beautiful handmade crafts. Walking through a souk is like stepping back in time to how people have shopped for hundreds of years.
