Landlocked location. Uganda is completely surrounded by land and doesn't touch the ocean, but it borders five different countries: Kenya, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, and Tanzania.

Lake Victoria's home. A huge chunk of Lake Victoria, Africa's largest lake, sits in Uganda's southern part and is shared with Kenya and Tanzania, making it a major water resource for millions of people.

Two geographic regions. Uganda sits in both the African Great Lakes region and the Nile basin, which means it's part of some of Africa's most important water systems that connect many countries.

Growing population. About 45.9 million people live in Uganda, with 1.8 million of them in the capital city Kampala, making it one of the most populated countries in East Africa.

Tropical weather year-round. Uganda has an equatorial climate, which means it stays warm and gets plenty of rain throughout the year, creating lush green landscapes and perfect conditions for farming.
