Portuguese roots. The ukulele started in Portugal before traveling across the ocean to Hawaii, where it became super popular and is now thought of as a Hawaiian instrument.

Hawaiian love story. Hawaiians adopted the ukulele and made it their own, using it to play traditional music and songs that became part of Hawaiian culture.

Four different sizes. Ukuleles come in soprano (smallest and brightest), concert (medium), tenor (deeper sound), and baritone (the biggest) so you can pick the one that sounds just right to you.

Lute family member. The ukulele belongs to a family of stringed instruments called lutes, which includes guitars and many other instruments played by plucking strings.

Size changes sound. Smaller ukuleles are louder and brighter, while bigger ones make deeper, richer tones, so the size you choose really matters for the sound you want.
