The Great One. Wayne Gretzky earned this nickname because many people consider him the greatest ice hockey player of all time. Surveys of hockey writers, players, and coaches all agree he was the best.
Point machine. Gretzky scored more points and assists than any other player in NHL history. He even has more assists alone than most players have total career points, which is almost impossible to imagine.
200-point seasons. Gretzky is the only NHL player ever to score more than 200 points in a single season, and he did it four times. No one else has even done it once.
15 elite seasons. He scored more than 100 points in 15 different professional seasons, showing he stayed amazing for his entire 20-year career. This kind of consistency is incredibly rare.
Record collector. When Gretzky retired in 1999, he held 61 NHL records across regular season, playoff, and All-Star games. Many of his records still stand today.
