Same court, special rules. Wheelchair tennis is played on a regular tennis court with the same net height and rackets as traditional tennis. The main difference is that players get to use two bounces instead of one, and the second bounce can even land outside the court.

Specially designed wheelchairs. Athletes use wheelchairs that are specially built for tennis, not regular wheelchairs. These sports chairs are lightweight, have special wheels, and are designed to help players move quickly and change direction on the court.

Serious competitive sport. Wheelchair tennis is recognized worldwide as a real competitive sport with professional tournaments, skilled athletes, and fans. Players train hard and compete at the highest levels, including at the Paralympics.

Two-bounce advantage. The two-bounce rule is the key adaptation that makes wheelchair tennis work. Players get to hit the ball after it bounces twice instead of having to hit it before or on the first bounce like in regular tennis.
