A sacred promise. Confirmation is when young people stand before their church community and say yes to the promises their parents made for them at baptism. It's like they're saying, 'I choose this faith for myself now that I'm old enough to decide.'

Hands laid down. The ceremony usually includes a leader placing their hands on each person being confirmed. This gesture is a way of blessing them and showing the church's support as they take this important step.

Different in each church. Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran, and other Christian churches all practice confirmation, but they do it in slightly different ways. Some happen when kids are around 12 or 13, while in other churches it might be when people are teenagers or even adults.

Sealing the deal. Think of confirmation as putting a special seal on your baptism, like the wax seal on an old-fashioned letter. You're saying the promises from baptism are now yours to keep, not just your family's.
