Giant rhino relative. Elasmotherium was an extinct rhinoceros that was much bigger and different from today's rhinos. It belonged to its own special family of rhinos called Elasmotheriinae that died out long ago.

Ancient survivor. This massive creature lived for millions of years, from the late Miocene period all the way through the Late Pleistocene, surviving until at least 39,000 years ago. That means it walked the Earth alongside early humans.

Asian wanderer. Elasmotherium roamed across Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and East Asia, living in vast grasslands and regions that are now countries like Russia, Kazakhstan, and China.

Last of its kind. Elasmotherium was the very last surviving member of its entire subfamily, making it the final chapter in a long story of diverse rhinoceroses that once filled the world.
