Lambeosaurus

Crested head-turner. Lambeosaurus had a tall, fancy crest on top of its head that looked a bit like a backwards question mark. Scientists think it used this crest to make sounds and show off to other dinosaurs.

Smart plant-eater. This dinosaur was one of the most specialized and intelligent plant-eating dinosaurs of its time. It had hundreds of tiny teeth designed perfectly for grinding up tough plants.

Named after a scientist. Lambeosaurus was named in 1923 to honor paleontologist Lawrence M. Lambe, who studied the first skull ever found of this amazing dinosaur.

Confusing baby dinosaurs. For a long time, scientists thought some younger Lambeosaurus dinosaurs belonged to completely different species with different names. Once they figured out these were just babies, they combined all the names together.

Duck-billed master. Lambeosaurus belonged to a group called hadrosaurids, or duck-billed dinosaurs, and was one of the most advanced members of this family.
