Shell droppers. Baby nudibranchs have shells, but they shed them as they grow up and become the soft, squishy sea slugs we know today.

Dazzling colors. These creatures come in almost every color and pattern you can imagine, from bright electric blue to fiery orange, and about 3,000 different species exist in our oceans.

Silly nicknames. Scientists gave them fun names like clown nudibranch, marigold nudibranch, and sea rabbit nudibranch just because they look so wild and wonderful.

Soft and squishy. Without a shell to protect them, nudibranchs have special tricks to stay safe, like some that steal stinging cells from their food to use as weapons.

Found everywhere. You can find nudibranchs in oceans all around the world, from shallow coral reefs to the deep sea, hunting for small creatures and plants.
