Movie planning tool. Before directors film a movie or animators create an animated film, they draw out the entire story as a series of simple pictures, like a comic strip. This helps everyone on the team understand exactly what will happen in each scene.

Walt Disney invented it. Modern storyboarding was created at Disney Productions in the early 1930s. Animators realized that drawing out their ideas first saved them tons of time and money instead of starting animation without a plan.

Simple but powerful. Storyboards don't need to be fancy or detailed. They can be basic sketches with notes about what characters say and how they move. The point is to show the sequence and flow of the story.

Used everywhere now. Today, filmmakers, game designers, and anyone making videos or interactive media use storyboards. It's like making a blueprint for your story before you build it.
