Amazing animals. Tanzania is home to some of Africa's most famous wildlife, including lions, elephants, giraffes, and zebras. Many of these animals live in protected areas like the Serengeti, one of the world's greatest natural wonders.
Located in East Africa. Tanzania sits in the eastern part of Africa, bordered by six countries and the Indian Ocean. It's part of the African Great Lakes region, which means it has access to huge freshwater lakes.
Super populated. With around 67.5 million people, Tanzania is the most populous African country that lies entirely south of the equator. That's more people than the entire United Kingdom!
Tall mountains. Tanzania is home to Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's tallest mountain, which stands at 19,341 feet high and has snow at its peak even though it's near the equator.
Ocean access. The Indian Ocean borders Tanzania to the east, giving the country beautiful beaches and important ports for trade with the rest of the world.
