Cool Facts
Built for pulling. Tractors are specially designed to pull heavy trailers, plows, and other equipment through fields and over rough ground. They have big, deep-treaded tires that grip dirt and mud so they won't slip or get stuck.
Power source on wheels. Tractors don't just pull things behind them, they also provide power to run machinery attached to them. A farmer can use a tractor's engine to operate a harvester, baler, or other farm equipment while working.
Farm work helpers. Tractors make farming much faster and easier by mechanizing tasks that used to require many people and horses. They till soil, plant seeds, pull harvesters, and do countless other jobs across farms around the world.
Beyond the farm. While most tractors work on farms, similar heavy vehicles are used in mining to move ore and rock, and in construction to haul equipment and materials to build roads, buildings, and other projects.
Slow but mighty. Tractors are designed to move slowly compared to regular trucks or cars, but they have incredible power to pull or push extremely heavy loads that would be impossible for other vehicles to move.
