Enormous meat-eater. Tyrannotitan was a gigantic theropod dinosaur that belonged to the carcharodontosaurid family, making it one of the largest carnivorous dinosaurs ever to roam the Earth.

Built stocky and strong. Unlike its South American cousins like Giganotosaurus, Tyrannotitan was bulkier and more robust, meaning it had a more muscular, powerful build.

Ancient Argentina resident. Tyrannotitan lived during the Albian stage of the Early Cretaceous period in what is now Argentina, over 100 million years ago.

Mystery from fossils. Scientists know about Tyrannotitan from only two fossil specimens, and both are incomplete, so there is still much to discover about this giant predator.

Related to giants. Tyrannotitan shared a close family relationship with other famous South American carcharodontosaurids like Giganotosaurus and Mapusaurus.
